HOLLAND — The Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation has granted $100,000 to five local organizations as part of a two-year initiative to support arts and culture.
A total of $20,000 each was given to Evergreen Commons, Holland Chorale, the Saugatuck-Douglas History Center, the Tri-Cities Historical Museum and the Zeeland History Society.
In a statement, Betsy and Dick DeVos said the nonprofits will use the money for innovative ideas that, in turn, take them to the next level.
Each organization will receive the funds in November, and has until the end of 2025 to use them.
The five initiatives include:
Evergreen Commons: In celebration of turning 40, Evergreen Commons will launch a Blue Zone Summit featuring nationally-known speakers and highlighting the organization’s impact on the aging community.
Holland Chorale: The chorale plans to invest in programmatic and institutional marketing to share the power of song. That includes updated branding and digital marketing to reach a broader audience and build relationships with current and future patrons.
Saugatuck-Douglas History Center: The history center plans to launch “Art History at the Art Coast” to attract more visitors in 2025. The campaign will include comprehensive programming, social events and pop-up exhibits to enhance visibility.
Tri-Cities Historical Museum: The museum plans to create a front window exhibit focused on boat building, shipping, fishing and indigenous communities along the lakeshore. It will also include hands-on elements to engage children and families.
