Flyers say travel smooth at Manchester airport despite busy Thanksgiving weekend

AAA projected upwards of 55 million Americans traveled across the country over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, but Sunday was expected to be the busiest travel day of the season so far.Things at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport have been relatively quiet and a News 9 crew at the airport did not see any major crowds Sunday evening. The Transportation Security Administration said so far on Sunday, passengers have been arriving early for their flights and recommended sticking to that early arrival schedule for all flights throughout the night. Most of the advice they have for travelers comes down to pretty standard flying tips, including listening to instructions from all airport personnel and staff, especially when wait lines and areas like baggage claim get busy. TSA at most airports is requiring all carry-on bags actually be put into a bin when going through the security conveyer belt, which is different than years past. That’s because of new computer technology with more advanced X-ray screening capabilities. In Manchester, travelers said they actually didn’t have much trouble with delays, cancellations or even crowds throughout their travels.“It actually wasn’t as busy as I had anticipated it. It was a very smooth weekend. Smooth travel,” said Jan Lanroche, of Peterborough.“Everything went on time. We landed on time, so it wasn’t a scary nightmare at all. Travel was good,” said Joan Gunzberg, who is visiting family in Vermont. If you are still waiting for a flight or waiting to head home, TSA said to keep an eye out for any weather alerts that could impact your travels.
