On Thursday, Oct. 3, on behalf of Focus Multisports and its participants, Rick Hundley — Focus Multisports’ co-owner and race director/USATF coach — flew his four-seater 315 hp Mooney M20K Rocket airplane to Rutherfordton, N.C., which was a disaster-relief drop site, delivering the requested 315 pounds of powdered nutrition drink mix.
Hundley and his co-pilot were greeted by about 50 volunteers on the ground to unload the aircraft, in addition to about a dozen aircraft arriving at about the same time — with 25 aircraft lined up to be unloaded on the ground due to the road transportation systems being virtually wiped-out. Each trip took Hundley about two hours each way from the Georgetown airport.

In addition, on the ground, Ernie Felici — Focus Multisports’ co-owner and race director —delivered previous events’ shirts, hats and other clothing to the Dewey Beach Lions Club, which will be sending combined aid to North Carolina and Florida from Dover Air Force Base.
Focus Multisports is a Delaware-based non-profit multisport company, owned and operated by Hundley and Felici. Through the years, their events have raised more than $750,000 in donations for Sussex County-area non-profits and school programs.
Participants can register now for the annual Bethany-Fenwick Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot Family Run Walk on Nov. 28 at BethanyTurkeyTrot.com, with the event benefiting the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company and the holiday Neighbors in Need food drive.
Registration is also open for the annual April 11-13, 2025, Coastal Delaware Running Festival — an RRCA State Championship event consisting of a Boston Qualifying Marathon Course, Half Marathoner’s Best Half Marathon, 9K and Dewey Beach 5K — at codelrun.com, benefiting Sussex County-area non-profits, as well as multiple academics and athletics programs.
