Americans are passionate people, especially when it comes to their cars and climate change. This is very evident in the controversy surrounding the transition to electric vehicles and, in particular, the proposed policy by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham for requiring manufacturers to deliver more electric vehicles over time.
The spectrum runs from those passionate about climate change and moving as rapidly as we can to electric vehicles to those who deny climate change is real and/or caused by man and want nothing to do with electric vehicles.
I am as passionate about climate change and lowering emissions as the next person, and I appreciate the governor’s efforts, but I believe people are more likely to accept change if they are given options that allow them to toe into the shallow end of the technology-transition pool, especially when those options are supported by underlying science.
