EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (KVRR) – Molly Yeh opened her first restaurant, Bernie’s in East Grand Forks last Fall named after her daughter.
A full service restaurant, an all-day café, are inside the building along with a market to purchase goods.
“I look at Bernie’s as a love letter to the Midwest. It is my way of showcasing everything I have learned about here. Because I’m not from this region, I lived in Chicago and then New York. There were so many things that I learned about here for the first time” Said Yeh.
Bernie’s serves Midwest and Scandinavian inspired dishes with local ingredients.
At Bernie’s they say it is so much more than just a restaurant. They really take pride in showcasing all the amazing goods that the upper Midwest has to offer.
Bernie’s brought back their popular cookie tins for the holiday season which are available for pre order.
“It makes me all emotional because the community is what it’s all about and to be able to build that community and give these people these experiences they can build memories around and they can bring their families here. It’s as much about the community as it is about the food and the ingredients for us.” Said Yeh.
Yeh moved to the upper Midwest to live on her husband’s farm in East Grand Forks in 2013.
Yeh hosts “Girl Meets Farm” on Food Network and has written a New York Times bestselling cook book “Home is Where the Eggs Are”.
