NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – In this edition of FFF: LSU Tigers can withstand the loss of a top wide receiver recruit, American stars learn owning English soccer teams can be dicey, and restaurants need to work with customers in this down market.
FOOTBALL
LSU lost the No. 1 wide receiver in the country for the class of 2025, Dakorien Moore. The Texas native decommited from the Tigers last week.
Now even though he was committed to LSU at one point, the WR also released a top-4 schools he had interest in and Moore was visiting other schools. It looks like he’ll eventually commit to the Texas Longhorns.
So you could tell his heart wasn’t all-in on the Tigers.
It could also be argued that LSU can handle a decommitment at WR. It’s the one position on the roster that the Tigers are absolutely loaded at, and it’s mostly from Louisiana recruits.
The LSU roster has eight players that prepped at schools in “The Boot”: Aaron Anderson (Edna Karr), Kyren Lacy (Thibodaux), Chris Hilton (Zachary), Zavion Thomas (John Ehret), Shelton Sampson (Catholic), Landon Ibieta (Mandeville), Kylan Billiot (Terrebonne), and Michael Turner (John Curtis).
Now the concern with LSU fans is they could possibly lose No. 1 quarterback Bryce Underwood out of Michigan. I think the 2025 QB stays with his commit.
Underwood hasn’t done a top-4, no visits to other schools, just going to LSU. He’s destined to be a Tiger and possibly a No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft down the line.
FÚTBOL
One of the biggest stories in world soccer is the rebirth of Wrexham under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Since they took over the Welsh side, Wrexham has moved up two divisions to League 1 of the English pyramid. That’s two steps from the English Premier League.
But not all movie stars or former athletes are having success with clubs in the United Kingdom.
Tom Brady, J.J. Watt, and Will Ferrell have all tasted disappointment as minority owners this past season.
Brady’s Birmingham City got relegated to League 1. Watt’s Burnley dropped out of the Premier League after a lackluster campaign. Ferrell’s Leeds missed out on English Premier League promotion after losing to Southampton in a playoff at Wembley Stadium.
FOOD
It’s not easy being a casual restaurant these days. With rising food cost, customers are choosing for cheaper options or not going out to as much.
So they should probably be more willing to work with customers on small request to get business.
I bring all this up through my own personal experience.
I called a restaurant that will remain nameless, that we needed a table for 18 on a Saturday at 1 p.m. A very slow time for a restaurant so should be an easy request to fill. The hostess informed me they don’t do reservations on Saturday. So instead of getting a nice tip for a waiter, and a nice tab for the restaurant, they said no thanks.
So I called Zea in Clearview Mall. They said no problem, and were very hospitable on the phone.
The waiter was really good, everyone had a great meal, we all left happy.
Good by Zea, the other place needs to do better for their own employees sake.
