The York Art Association has a new home and a new logo to go with it, said Executive Director Roth J. Preap in a news release.
The association’s new home will be the former Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, known locally as the “Little Green Church,” at 591 Linden Ave.
This new location will provide the York Art Association with double its gallery and education space, according to the news release.
The association was forced to look for a new site earlier this year when it was announced the current location on South Marshall Street in York was to be seized by eminent domain for the Interstate 83 widening project.
With a new home comes a new logo for the association.
The new logo and branding will adorn the current and new location and will build York Art Association’s presence in the community through a sleek and modern design, according to the release. The design was created with the support of a grant awarded during Give Local York, which facilitated connections between YAA and students from Pennsylvania’s College of Art and Design. Over the next few months, the new logo will be implemented across all social channels, websites and printed materials.
Founded in 1905, the organization provides fine visual art education to the community, hosting more than 100 classes and workshops annually.
“The York Art Association is a channel for artists in our community to present their works in a professional space,” said Michael Lowe, York Art Association’s board president. “We are excited about this new location, as it will support the growth and development of the Art Association while preserving the rich history associated with our organization and the church.”
The York Art Association is a member-based organization serving over 300 members, according to the news release. The Association’s mission is “to encourage and develop an interest in the visual arts; to provide opportunities for education through classroom instruction, workshops, lectures and publications; to support interaction within the community and to provide a venue for members and non-members to exhibit their work in a gallery setting.”
