FORM x TCU: Promoting health, nutrition and wellness among collegiate women


FORM, a women-powered online platform, is starting a collegiate collaboration program at TCU. 

Created in 2021 by Sami Clarke and Sami Spalter, FORM is a subscription-based program that offers workout videos, wellness tips and nutrition plans. Its main focus is to create a community of like-minded women who want to better themselves and those around them.

Leighton McLeod, a junior business information systems major and an active FORM member, founded FORM x TCU this semester.

McLeod said she felt like TCU lacked a program that teaches women how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By bringing FORM to TCU, she hopes to influence women to become the best versions of themselves.

There are over 120 members in FORM x TCU’s GroupMe thus far. In the coming weeks, McLeod plans to send out an official “Join FORM x TCU” Google form that will assess the needs of its members. 

FORM is also trying to develop its presence on other campuses, such as Auburn, SMU, UT Knoxville and USC, but TCU remains at the forefront, McLeod said.

“If TCU is able to really take charge of this and set a good example for the rest of the schools, that would be a really cool experience for us,” she said.

Since FORM x TCU is affiliated with an official web platform, McLeod said that it has a competitive edge over similar wellness clubs at TCU like CHXX Who Lift and Noble.

She wants members to “constantly look forward” to meetings by having an activity once a month.

“We have different things planned like coffee walks, where everybody gets their coffee for free,” McLeod said. “We also have some workout classes planned later on in the semester, where everybody will go to the rec and workout together while watching a FORM video.”

McLeod also said that if the organization gains a strong following, both FORM founders—the “Samis”—will come to TCU to teach an in-person workout class.

McLeod said that FORM x TCU is all about reaping the benefits of college by creating a community filled with women who want to become better physically, mentally and socially. 

“I think as far as fitness goes, one of the things that is really hard, especially in college, is holding yourself accountable,” McLeod said. “Because FORM x TCU is community-based, you have other people keeping you accountable, as well.” 

Anna Rice, a sophomore communication studies major interested in joining FORM x TCU, said that she is hoping to grow mentally and physically from the program.

“I like how inclusive and motivating the program is for students,” Rice said.

After a seven-day free trial, FORM offers two membership options: a monthly subscription for $28 or an annual subscription for $119. 

“I’ve been a FORM member for a little while, and I love it. One of my favorite things is their nutrition plan, where I can download recipes that are super easy to make,” McLeod said.
