CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) — A former Clinton resident who took home an Oscar for his work is launching a new entertainment and incubator company in California. 

Mickey Meyer grew up in Clinton and graduated from the local school. From there, he worked his way through the world of show business. 

He was the former president of Group Nine Studios and the co-founder of JASH, which is a comedy studio. 

Through his craft, he’s worked with countless movie stars and even worked with former President Barack Obama and his administration. 

Meyer, along with two other prominent directors, is launching The Unreasnble. 

Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe, writers/directors and producers, joined forces with Meyer, forming a new full-service media company. 

The company is built for filmmakers and entrepreneurs to develop, produce, finance and distribute, with a focus on TV and film.

There will also be incubation efforts through Meyer’s new company.

In addition, The Unreasnble will acquire Oscar, Emmy, and Cannes Gold Lion award-winning production company Dirty Robber. 

Here’s how Meyer describes the new venture:

“Martin and Travon are remarkable, boundary-pushing storytellers in a time when it’s needed and being welcomed more than ever. When we started talking about the challenges we faced as filmmakers and entrepreneurs today, it was clear that we would be stronger together and could build something sorely needed in the communities in which we exist and beyond,” Meyer said. 

He added that The Unreasnble is in the beginning stages.

He describes the new company as a “home.”

Empathy and representation are key features of The Unreasnble. 

Clinton holds special meaning for Meyer. 

“There’s a heart in that area,” he said of Central New York.

He also added that there is another former Clinton resident working with him on the new venture.

What does he miss about the area? 

He also misses the sport Clinton is known for—hockey.

He fondly remembers growing up in Clinton, and he even attributes a lot of his success to a late special teacher from CCS.
