“I’ll be going off air for a little while,” Puglisi wrote. “On Wednesday night, I was struck by a car while walking home. I was in the crosswalk about to reach the other side of the road when next thing I knew I was flying through the air. I broke two bones in my spine. I’m home now recovering.”
Puglisi, an EMMY-nominated television journalist, is now reporting for WHDH-TV in Boston, but he also remains an adjunct professor at the University of New Haven in the Communication, Film and Media Studies Department.
After Fox61, he worked at a station in Orlando, Florida before returning to the Northeast to work at WHDH.
Though still in pain, Puglisi was all smiles in a photo he posted to Facebook, and he expects to make a full recovery.
“I’m walking around a little bit but the pain is tough,” Puglisi wrote. “I’m bummed to be put on the bench like this but I hope to be back soon. Until then, stay safe and look both ways when crossing the street.”
