Former Rap Collaborator of Timbaland, Magoo, Reportedly Passes Away at Age 50

Magoo, who used to work with Timbaland, allegedly died on August 13 at the age of 50.

Playa member Digital Black was the first to pay tribute to the late rapper on his Instagram page.

“Man can’t believe this RIP Magoo damn big bro wasnt ready for this at all #superfriends [sic],” he wrote in the description.

Magoo, whose real name was Melvin Barcliff, was best known as one half of the hip-hop group Timbaland & Magoo. Besides being connected to the famous music producer, he was also connected to Missy Elliot.

When they were both teenagers, the rapper and Timbaland met in 1989. This was the start of their careers.

Magoo and Timbo were young when they were in a group called SBI (Surrounded By Idiots). Larry Live and a young Pharrell Williams were also in the group. AllHipHop says that people called Timbo “DJ Timmy Tim” and Pharrell “Magnum the Verb Lord.”

The group’s first album, Welcome to Our World, came out in 1997. The hit song “Up Jumps Da Boogie” was from that album.

During their careers, Magoo and Timbaland often worked with other Swing Mob members like Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, Playa, and Aaliyah.

No formal collaborators have said anything about the news, so the cause of death is still unknown.

At the time this story was written, there was also no news about his funeral.
