France Expresses Interest in Odisha’s Forest and Wildlife Conservation


Odisha Eyes French Cooperation for Forest & Climate Sustainability

In a significant diplomatic engagement, the Ambassador of France to India, Thierry Mathou, along with a high-level delegation, met with Odisha’s Forest Minister, Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, at Lok Seva Bhavan on Wednesday.


The discussion focused on France’s potential collaboration in forest conservation, wildlife protection, and climate resilience efforts in Odisha.

The French delegation, which included Consul General Didier Talpain, Press Attaché Anjita RoyChaudhury, Charge de Mission Samuel Bouchard, and Alliance Française du Bengale Director Nicolas Facino, highlighted France’s commitment to supporting Odisha’s environmental initiatives.

Senior officials from Odisha’s Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, including Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Suresh Pant, were present to discuss possible areas of collaboration for sustainable development.

This diplomatic exchange strengthens France’s ties with Odisha, paving the way for innovative environmental partnerships that could enhance conservation efforts and climate resilience in the state.

Earlier, the French Ambassador Mr Mathou, paid a courtesy visit to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today at Lok Seva Bhavan. Both held a diplomatic exchange aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Odisha and France, exploring new opportunities for mutual cooperation.
