From Dhaka streets to internet stardom: Mr. Spray’s spotlight on a

Spray-painted designs on clothes are becoming popular worldwide. Their appeal as a means of elevating an otherwise understated outfit has led to a surge in demand in both the Western and, more recently, the Bangladeshi fashion markets.

It is no wonder that Bangladeshis now like to use spray paint designs on not only their clothes but also shoes and accessories. Even though large companies and independent businesses have been dominating the market, a treasure seems to be hiding in plain sight in Dhaka’s bustling streets.

Appearing in a reel shot by the famous content creator Mr. Spray, Andrew Ghisoni, who explores the world in search of the most gifted spray paint artists, a local Bangladeshi seemed to attract more than two hundred thousand views!

To create content for his YouTube subscribers, Andrew had the artist paint a brown leather jacket for 50 euros.

Despite the painting’s initially bewildering beginnings, trusting the process has never worked better. With swift hands, immense attention to detail, and literally just household items like a lighter, newspaper, sponge, and so on, the man begins crafting his marvel. As Ghisoni and several other spectators watch on, the man somehow turns the ordinary jacket into a piece of art.

Featuring a spellbinding night-time scene with a moonlight ambience and some magnificent waterfalls, the artwork seems to convey nature’s wonders. Commenters from all around the world, including Bangladesh, joined the chorus praising the artist and his incredible skills.

This goes to show that while there is still a niggling stereotype around Bangladesh of wearing only foreign designer-branded edgy fashion items, our country does have lesser-known street fashion and creative artists who deserve our praise.

So, the next time you want to refresh your outfit or adopt a new style, consider what is already out there in your city. Who knows? You may stumble onto yet another extraordinary Bangladeshi artist deserving of public admiration.
