Gallery 103 is searching for art submissions for new exhibit

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Gallery 103 is hosting an “Artist in Recovery” exhibit later this year and are looking for art submissions from those who have been through, are in, or have been associated with someone in recovery from any form of adversity.

The exhibit is looking for people to submit artwork that reflects their journey, resilience, and recovery of any kind. All visual arts are welcome including painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures.

Gallery 103 would like submissions to include a brief description of how the art relates to their recovery journey. The exhibits founder believes having a place to submit artwork like this would be a great way for individuals in the community to open up and heal during their recovery.

“Submissions have started coming in and they’re really powerful,” says Liz Stewart, the founder of the exhibit. “I find myself sitting alone in my apartment at night reading these stories and then looking at this artwork, and I’m crying. It’s a powerful thing to be able to read how somebody took this really dark piece of art and it was the beginning of their emotional detoxification.”

The submission deadline for the exhibit is on February 14th. Stewart says for anyone wanting to submit artwork or has questions to email [email protected].
