Galveston’s annual Dickens on the Strand, a Victorian-themed holiday street festival, takes place this weekend. It’s also celebrating its 50th anniversary (and was, in fact, recognized for that milestone by the British Parliament).

In the audio above, we discuss the festival’s history, and this year’s event, with Will Wright, Chief Creative Officer of the Galveston Historical Foundation, and Oliver “Ollie” Dickens, the great-great-great grandson of Charles Dickens. He’s one of a number of descendants of the famed writer who are taking part in this weekend’s activities.
