Galway restaurant’s ‘funny’ Tripadvisor review forces owners into instant reply

A Galway restaurant has thanked one of its customers who praised their service and “very Italian” staff.

Woozza Dining on Middle Street in Galway city has been in business almost 5 years and seeing as it’s an Italian restaurant with an Italina owner, this compliment must have had them chuffed.

The review in question was posted this week and had high praise for the restaurant’s Gluten Free pizza.

“Great value with huge portions, and a choice of indoor or outdoor seating,” the customer had said.

“Our very italian servers – a middle aged man and a woman with short dark hair were so funny and friendly and didn’t mind us asking to move inside after we had ordered. Great selection of pizza and drinks for any dietary requirements.”

Woozza’s owner Sandro fell in love with Ireland 25 years ago, and after a fish and chips shop, a Dublin adventure, and an amazing love story, he landed in the town of the Tribes, where his pizza quickly became an institution.

Sandro told Galway Beo he is very proud of his restaurant and its amazing staff as he said:

“Almost all our pizza chefs are from Italy, who knows how to make an Italian pizza base. I’m also proud I give a job to young people, they’re all in their early 20s. Some of them first worked here while Erasmus students years ago, and then they called me saying ‘I want to come back’”.

And of course, Sandro is also proud of the food he serves at Woozza, as they use top Italian ingredients, and not even the cost of living crisis could make him choose something else.

He explained: “The pizza here is very light, I can’t eat a full pizza anywhere else but here. Everything at the base of our pizza comes from Italy, and all our wines also come from Italy.

“The price of mozzarella fior di latte has skyrocketed, but I keep buying it because the final product always needs to be the same.”

Sandro revealed to GalwayBeo the secret behind their highly-regarded gluten-free pizza.

He said: “It comes from Italy, in a special tray, so it doesn’t get contaminated, so we only have to put tomato sauce and toppings on it.

“Other gluten-free pizzas have the problem that the edge cracks, while this one seems like a normal pizza with a normal edge.”
