Get that Grammy’s Glam

All cameras were on her for the entire ceremony — having secured the top gong of the night and in true Swifty fashion, Taylor stuck to her classic look — red lip, feline liner — but elevated it for the occasion.

The eyelid was a Champagne delicately sparkled eyeshadow, and a great option is

(1) Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes to Mesmerise (£26), a long-lasting cream shadow in, funnily enough, the shade Champagne (which really makes blue eyes pop) and is one of the most flattering cream shadows on the market — an ideal choice for more mature lids.

It’s also a pretty full-proof, yet impactful eye look — simply take a synthetic eye brush and sweep over the lid and buff into the crease. It’s a one-and-done eyeshadow that turns up the glamour dial. To amp it up even further, take a liquid liner with a brush tip — the (2) Nyx Epic liner (£9) in black is one of the best options, either high street or luxury — and look ahead in the mirror and follow the angle of your lower lashline and flick the pen away towards the tail end of your brow. Then apply a thin line along your lashline, gradually making it thinner and thinner.

For the cheeks, Taylor has kept the blush understated, using warm-toned bronzer in its place. (3) The Vieve Modern Bronzer (£32) has a lovely satin formula which sits beautifully on the skin and comes in four different shades, from light to deep, and each bronzer palette has two pans — one with a true warmer bronze shade — while the other is a more contour shade to sculpt the cheekbones. Add a light gold highlighter; try the (4) Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Seeker Highlighter (£39) in Sundrool to make the tops of the cheekbones really ‘pop’. It’s the lips that really round out this look, and while Taylor generally chooses a matte formula, for Grammys 2024 she opted for a glossy finish. To stop it from smearing all over your face, you need a reliable lip liner formula: step forward MAC, a classic that lies on the drier side but is a staple in many people’s makeup bags for that reason — it’s long-lasting. To emulate Taylor’s look, opt for Cherry — a blue-toned red — and sticking with MAC, fill in the entire lips with the liner, then top off with the brand’s OG favourite, (5) Ruby Woo in the Lip Gloss formula.

Dua Lipa

The popstar managed to slay the red carpet in the makeup stakes, but also deliver a look that’s still approachable for us mere mortals, and at Weekend we’re here for it.

Swipe a bronzer into your crease, working it all over the lid and layer on top a more minky/taupe shade — perhaps (6) Dior Mono Couleur Couture (£31) in Beige Mitzah (yes, we get it… it is ridiculous to pay that amount of money for a single eyeshadow). Bucking the trend for a shimmery inner corner highlight, Dua has a matte lilac shade that adds a pop of interest for the overall more neutral finish.

Just to even things out, budget-wise, opt for the (7) Barry M Cosmetics Clickable Single Lilac Matte Eyeshadow Palette in the shade Intrigued (£3.49). On the cheeks, try (8) Bare Minerals Gen Nude Blonzer (£27) in kiss of pink — an envy-inducing, sun-kissed glow in this blusher/bronzer hybrid that’s the perfect addition to your beauty bag if you want to mimic that just-spent-the-day-sunbathing look without actually spending any time in the sun.

For lips, gently overline the cupid’s bow and trace the outlines with (9) Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat (£21) in Pink Venus — a beautiful peachy, pink lip liner — and then apply a layer of Pat McGrath Labs Lust: Gloss in Pale Nectar Fire (£24) which has a lovely iridescent purple/blue colour shift.

Janelle Monáe

The singer and actress delivered a smoky, sultry makeup look for the Grammy 2024 red carpet, and it was one of the most stunning beauty looks of the night. Janelle rocked an eye look that emphasised her gorgeous features and the talented makeup artist played up Janelle’s eyes with a sculpted, contoured style that calls back to the 90s supermodel era.

The palette that is perfect for recreating this is (10) Danessa Myricks Groundwork Palette (£71.50). A MUA’s dream, this is a multi-use palette with velvety pomades and coordinating oil-absorbing shaping powders in neutral tones that easily define eyes, brows, cheeks and lips. Not to distract from the eyes, Janelle’s cheeks were played down, the lips completed the look with a brown lip liner (try Nyx Suede Matte Lip Liner in Club Hooper, £4) and finish with (11) Elf O Satin Lipstick in Dirty Talk (£9), a beautiful peachy nude.

Lana del Rey

The sultry crooner who it often feels like was made for an era long by, Lana had a neutral, pared back 60s matte vibe and sits so well with the ingénue aesthetic we’ve all come to love and expect from the singer. Like most of her big carpet occasions, Lana kept all-matte for the evening, sticking with muted neutrals to pair with her rather fetching LBD.

The eyes are kept minimal; a beige, light tan over the mobile lid with a thicker cat eye flick which looks softer than liquid, so perhaps start with an ivory or beige shade from the (12) Viseart Petites Neutral Eyeshadow Palette, £35 and pat and blend into the eye socket. Then take a black or for a softer look, dark brown, eye pencil — the (13) All Smudge No Budge eye pencil by Made by Mitchell (£12) allows some playtime to smoke out a line, but also allows for a more defined line.

Apply it in the upper lash line to make the lashes look even longer. It looks like Lana has enhanced her lashes with some falsies — a pair like the (14) Ardell Demi Wispies (£4.80) are a staple in many a MUA kit.

Finishing off, for a lip liner choose the (15) Artist Color Pencil in Wherever Walnut by Make Up For Ever, £19 to line the lips and blend inwards with a lip brush to prevent a harsh look (Weekend thinks the lip line on Lana is a little too harsh) applying (16) Charlotte Tilbury’s Kim K. W — a light, beige nude pink in her Kissing formula (£27), which leans more satin.

To make the lips look more matte, apply a thick tissue over the lips, take a stiff face brush and dab a light dusting of translucent powder — et voilá!

Ayra Starr

The young Beninese-born Nigerian singer had all the attention on the red carpet with her beautiful sky blue custom JéBlanc dress that was so very Las Vegas in the best possible way, but equally, her makeup made sure was a ‘Fashion Killer’ in all ways.

And there’s very much an early 2000s vibe when it comes to Ayra’s makeup. Taking the lead from her showstopper gown, a sky blue eyeshadow was applied on the mobile lid — the (17) Elf Cookies ‘N Dreams six-pan eyeshadow has the perfect colours to recreate this look and at £9, it’s not going to hurt the bank balance too much. The magic then comes to apply a white shimmer on top to really app up the fun glamour of Ayra’s look. Try (18) Urban Decay’s Moondust single eyeshadow (£20) — a glitter topper which captures light — and apply it either with your fingers or a stiff, synthetic shadow brush.

For blusher, go for a rich berry shade. (19) Makeup by Mario’s Blush Veil (£30), adds an impactful, yet glowy finish.

MAKEUP BY MARIO Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil, £30

For Ayra’s gorgeous lip finish, start off with (20) MAC’s Mahogany lip liner, £20, outlining the lips and feathering inwards with a brush. Then take another MAC lip liner — Chestnut — but this time just sticking to the natural contour of the lips.

Top it all off with a layer of the (21) Nyx Duck Plump Lip Gloss, £10, in Cherry Spice.
