GHDT’s Mélange Series returns

The Mélange Series, created by GHDT Executive Artistic Director Gregory Hancock, will start its second season with shows at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and 3 p.m. Nov. 17 at The Florence theater at The Academy of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre in Carmel.

Each series will feature a musician, a vocalist or instrumentalist, a GHDT dancer and a visual artist. Together, they will create art at The Florence in a collaborative and organic manner.

The Nov. 16-17 performances will feature vocalist Tessa Gibbons, dancer Josie Moody and visual artist Kevin James Wilson.

Gibbons’ most recent performance with GHDT was “The Music of La Casa Azul” at the Palladium at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts, besides also being part of “La Casa Azul’s” previous theatrical shows in 2015 and 2019.

Moody, who joined GHDT during the 2021-22 season, began her training at The Academy of GHDT during its opening in 2009. She was a member of GHDT’s pre-professional company, G2, for six seasons and interned with GHDT for three years as a student.

Wilson, an Indianapolis resident, was a college professor of graphic design at International Business College in Indianapolis for 25 years. He also taught drawing and airbrush at the Indianapolis Art Center for 12 years.
