Xavier’s Libby Fandel, North Linn’s Kamryn Kurt and Solon’s Callie Levin were first-team selections last year

A dozen of the area’s top girls’ basketball players heading into the 2023-24 season:

Macy Boge, 5-8 sr., North Linn — Averaged 12.5 points and 3.8 steals per game. Class 1A second-team all-state.

Libby Fandel, 6-1, jr., Cedar Rapids Xavier — Averaged 16.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last year. Class 4A first-team all-state.

Audrie Helmrichs, 5-10, sr., Edgewood-Colesburg — Averaged 18.6 points, 14.1 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game, shooting 59.8 percent from the field. Class 1A second-team all-state.

Jayden Kuper, 5-10, jr., Monticello — Averaged 18.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game last year. Class 3A second-team all-state.

Kamryn Kurt, 5-6, sr., North Linn — Averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 steals per game last year. Class 1A first-team all-state.

Callie Levin, 5-9, sr., Solon — Averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.7 steals last year. Class 3A first-team all-state.

Ava Locklear, 5-11, sr., Clear Creek Amana — Averaged 13.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists last year. Class 4A second-team all-state.

Chloe Meester, 6-3, jr., Mount Vernon — Averaged 9.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game last year. Class 3A third-team all-state.

Hailey Miller, 5-7, sr., Solon — Averaged 11.5 points and 2.8 assists per game last year. Class 3A third-team all-state.

Morgan Miller, 5-6, jr., Iowa City Regina — Averaged 17.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game last year. Class 2A second-team all-state.

Emma Townsley, 5-8 sr., Benton Community — Averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last year. Class 3A third-team all-state.

Yazmeen Whitsitt, 5-7, sr., Decorah — Averaged 19.6 points per game last year, shooting 40.5 percent from 3-point range. Class 4A second-team all-state.
