Cathy Levesque, the Executive Director and CEO of the Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre & Conservatory, has announced her plans to retire in the first quarter of 2025 after 20 years of transformative leadership.
Throughout her tenure, Levesque played a pivotal role in establishing the Theatre as a premier regional destination for the performing arts. Her efforts led to a substantial increase in programming, with the Theatre now hosting multiple events weekly and attracting 130,000 guests annually. Her vision also extended to enhancing educational opportunities and expanding the venue, including the purchase and restoration of the adjacent Conservatory building, which now houses the Marquee Room, a more intimate performance space.
Levesque’s forward-thinking approach was especially evident during the pandemic, when she spearheaded a project to construct an underground corridor linking the Theatre to the Conservatory, providing artists with direct access to upgraded dressing rooms. Additionally, her initiatives included renovating the campus with a new parking lot, modernizing the façade, installing a state-of-the-art sound system, refurbishing seating, and growing both staff and volunteer support significantly. Notably, she also led efforts to eliminate the Theatre’s debt.
Armand Desmarais, President of the Board of Directors, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Board. “Cathy will be a hard act to follow. A search will begin to identify her successor, with a preference for promoting from within.”
Reflecting on her retirement, Levesque remarked, “I am grateful beyond words to have had the opportunity to serve in what I think may be the best job in the world. In this business, there is something new every day, and often, creativity is at the forefront of our solutions. I deeply care about the Stadium, and I know that even after my retirement, I will continue to be the Stadium’s lifelong friend and greatest advocate.”
