KAMIAH — “The Warm Kitchen” (TWK) food demonstrations held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church Fellowship Hall on March 2, 9 and16 specialized in plant-based recipes. The term, “plant-based,” coined by biochemist Thomas Colin Campbell, is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, as dishes “consisting primarily or entirely of food derived from plants.”
“Reports of disease-fighting qualities from foods picked off trees, harvested in the field, or grown in the garden may explain the rising interest in plant-based menu-planning,” Cathy Law, TWK organizer said. “One of the popular plant-based diets is the Mediterranean diet.”
