Good travel day Wednesday; some concerns after the holiday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Kansans will be treated to some very quiet weather on Wednesday for a busy travel day. The winds will be much calmer and temperatures are forecast to warm back up with many areas seeing 50s and 60s. The warm weather will be short lived as a Thanksgiving Day cold front brings about a change.

Wednesday will be mainly sunny with light west to southwest winds.

Thursday will see the winds turning back to the northeast with some clouds, and highs will likely cool to the 40s and 50s. Dry weather is likely statewide.

We have issued a Weather Alert Day for Friday in northwest Kansas as snow may lead to some slick roads during the afternoon and into the night. The main system coming from the Rockies will spread snow across most of the state for Saturday. While it is too early to suggest how much snow we will get, it is safe to expect some impact on road conditions both Saturday morning and throughout the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s, and if you plan to travel home from Thanksgiving festivities, be advised that we will be up against some messy weather during the weekend. Travel conditions will be much better on Sunday.
