Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Opens with $114 Million

The third and final installment of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy debuted at $114 million at the domestic box office.

The Marvel movie is just behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie in terms of how many tickets were sold during its first weekend.

The movie made $168 million around the world. Variety says that the next few weeks will be important for Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” because it will be up against a lot of other summer movies.

James Gunn, who is in charge of the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said that he had made 600 different versions of it. Gunn wanted to use the fact that theaters have more than one way to show a movie. The objective was to enable every show organizer to use as much screen space as possible.

James Gunn also said that this will be his last “Guardians” movie. He will now be directing a new “Superman” movie for DC Studios, which is set to come out in 2025.

In another place, the director said that he liked the role of Rocket, who was the weapons expert of the group, in the last movie of the series. Gunn said that the story of Rocket is his story.
