‘Happy and Relieved’ Kelly Clarkson Announces End to Payments to Ex-Boyfriend Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson is looking forward to a fresh start as she closes a costly chapter in her life in 2023.

The Since U Been Gone singer, 41, is “relieved” to have ceased spousal support payments to ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 47, more than three years after their divorce.

“Kelly is feeling relieved that her spousal support to Brandon has come to an end. ,” a source told Us Weekly. “She’s been ready for this for a while now and is so happy her payments to Brandon will be complete. It’s so nice knowing that this chapter of her life can close with the new year.”

According to the insider, the artist and talk show host is “looking at this as a fresh start and she couldn’t be happier for a clean slate in 2024.”

After nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020. The legal battle was complex because it involved spousal support, the singer’s Montana ranch, and custody of their two children, River, 9, and Remington, 7.

Clarkson was granted primary custody of the children once the divorce was finalized in March 2022. She did, however, have to agree to pay $45,601 per month in child support until their children are 18, graduate, or become self-sufficient.

In a new twist, Blackstock now owes Clarkson money for accepting fees from deals he negotiated for her, despite the fact that he is not a qualified talent agency.

Blackstock was forced to repay Clarkson $2,641,374 for exceeding his managerial responsibilities and illegally obtaining transactions that should have been handled by her talent agency.
