Harry Johnson, the ‘Law and Order’ Star, Died at the Age of 81


Harry Johnson, a veteran actor whose career spanned four decades and includes performances in renowned television shows such as Battlestar Galactica and Law & Order, died on January 2nd, 2024, at the age of 81.

Christiane Johnson, Johnson’s wife, confirmed the news to Deadline, adding that he died in Los Angeles after a protracted illness. Although the reason of death has not been made public, Johnson had been suffering from health concerns for some time.

Johnson, who was born in Plainfield, New Jersey in 1942, began his acting career in the 1970s with roles in television shows such as MASH and Quincy M.E.

His breakthrough role was as a Colonial Warrior in the original Battlestar Galactica in 1978. He later returned to the series as a pilot in 1979.

Johnson worked steadily in television during the 1980s and 1990s, appearing on shows such as Dynasty, The A-Team, The Incredible Hulk, Days of Our Lives, and Melrose Place. In addition, he made remarkable appearances in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Party of Five.

Johnson was cast in a recurring role on the long-running legal drama Law & Order in 2001. On the show, he played two different characters: Brewer in Season 2 and Lawrence Hodge in Season 3. His stints on Law & Order solidified his reputation as a versatile and dependable character actor.

Johnson was a proficient voice-over artist and looping group member on various Dick Wolf productions, including the Law & Order universe and the Chicago series, in addition to acting. He also provided voice-over work for video games such as Need for Speed.
