TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Harvesters Food Network handed out free food during a food distribution at the Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI).
Approximately 30,000 to 40,000 pounds of free food was handed out to those in need on Thursday, April 4. KNI hosted the food drive sponsored by the Town and Country Christian church and Harvesters. No ID was required.
Billy Moore, who works at KNI, says he has helped the distribution for about 14 years. He finds helping the distribution rewarding and even helps offer food to those who couldn’t make it to the distribution.
“I bring a basket out and they fill it up and then when I get back to where I work at KNI,” said Moore. “There are several people that come in. They pick what they want and there is one lady that comes in and if anything is left she takes whatever is left over. I like to be able to help. It is something I can do, and I know that people need it.”
The Institute’s address is 3107 SW 21st St., near the intersection of 21st and Randolph.
