Harvey Guillén expressed hope about the possibility of an LGBT Disney princess, saying, “We are in the life span of that potentially happening.”
Guillén, famed for his performances in Wish, spoke with ComicBook.com this week, underlining Disney’s progress towards LGBTQ+ representation.
“I think they’re making strides in the right direction,” he said.
He recognized the difficulties of adding new approaches inside an existing framework, but applauded Disney for their efforts.
“And sometimes those things take time and I’m optimistic,” the actor explained.
Harvey emphasized the potential significance of a queer princess and expressed delight for the idea.
Harvey played Gabo in Disney’s new film Wish, which was inspired by Grumpy from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The actor’s part is consistent with Disney’s progressive integration of LGBTQ+ representation into recent films over the last decade.
More recently, both the animation Strange World and the live-action High School Musical: The Musical: The Series include LGBT romance subplots featuring secondary characters.
