The Last of Us fans are eating well this week thanks to the trend that HBO and Sony Pictures Television have set for themselves. For those unaware, Season 2 is gearing up for production, and with that comes more characters from the hit 2020 game The Last of Us Part II. Casting choices have been revealed to the public in the past few days, the third casting announcement being Ellie’s romantic partner, Dina.
HBO announced earlier today via X/ Twitter that Isabela Merced (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Rosaline, Alien: Romulus) will star as Dina in the follow-up season to the hit series’ first season. The news surrounding Merced follows cast announcements of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and Young Mazino as Jesse. The three actors will be joined by Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel.
The Stars Realign
Isabela Merced has become a prominent figure, graduating from Nickelodeon and co-starring in Sony Pictures’ upcoming Madame Web film. Merced and Kaitlyn Dever recently co-starred in 2022’s retelling of Romeo & Juliet via Hulu romantic-comedy film, Rosaline. Merced has proved herself to be an up-and-coming star in Hollywood, and a role such as Dina will only cement her name as one to keep an eye on.
Stay tuned for more news regarding The Last of Us season 2 announcements. We can only begin to speculate who will be announced next for the series. Perhaps on a future day, we will know Lev or Owen to balance out the Fireflies’ side of the season. Until then, fans can look forward to the PlayStation 5 release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered. You can purchase a physical copy of the game via our Amazon Affiliate link!
While you wait, also check out Isebela Merced in theaters voicing Kim in Migration, watch her and Dever in Hulu’s Rosaline, or stay tuned next month for Sony Pictures’ Madame Web!
