HCA Healthcare donates a record of more than 1 million meals to local food banks nationwide 

West Palm Beach, FL, January 17, 2023– HCA Florida JFK North Hospital as a part of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers, today announced the results of its annual Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food and Nutrition Drive. This fall, HCA Healthcare, our colleagues and the HCA Healthcare Foundation provided more than 1 million nutritious meals to community food banks by donating food or making financial contributions to help purchase perishable items such as milk, fruit and vegetables. This eclipses the 878,000 meals provided by the organization in 2022.

As one of the participants in HCA Healthcare’s Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food and Nutrition Drive, HCA Florida JFK North Hospital and its colleagues will donate $10,000 to the Palm Beach County Food Bank.

On January 18, 2024 from 10:00am – 10:30am at HCA Florida JFK North Hospital we will welcome the Palm Beach County Food bank for a check presentation and additional cans the staff and community collected.  Please join us for this joyous celebration to start off 2024 in Palm Beach County!

For the 2023 Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food and Nutrition Drive, hospitals were encouraged to get creative and build sculptures with the donated food before transporting it to their local food banks. The winner in each division received a $10,000 grant for the food bank serving their community. This is the second year in a row that HCA Florida JFK North Hospital won this competition! Food insecurity, the lack of consistent access to enough food to have an active, healthy lifestyle, affects 1 in 9 American families. The United States Department of Agriculture reports that 17 million U.S. households were food insecure at some point in 2022. HCA Florida JFK North Hospital is committed to working with Palm Beach county to help our community with partners like the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
