Healing Place of New Hanover County announces weekly free food distribution program

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Healing Place of New Hanover County this summer is launching a free weekly food distribution program for each Monday from June to August.

The service helps get healthy food to people living in food deserts or when school feeding programs are closed.

Anyone in need can drive or walk up to THP on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. until the program ends at the end of August to get a free box.

“THPNC is able to provide this service due to its partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and several generous community partners, including Harris Teeter and Publix, who provide solid and reliable sources of nutritious, delicious and diverse food boxes for our community. The contents of the weekly food boxes differ each week and may include items like fresh produce, frozen meat, toiletry items, paper goods, diapers and more,” a THPNC announcement states.
