In an effort to ensure the uninterrupted supply of food to Israel during the ongoing conflict, the Health Ministry has announced a temporary suspension of the “red labeling” of imported food products and the Hebrew labeling of imported bottled mineral and spring water.
The ministry’s statement reassures the public that there is no cause for concern if they come across a locally produced item on store shelves with red labels denoting high sugar, fat, or salt content while a similar imported product lacks these labels. This measure has been implemented to expedite the delivery of food to Israeli consumers, without compromising food safety standards.
Although the requirement for red labels is temporarily waived, nutritional content tables will still be present on all products. Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue their efforts to limit their consumption of excessive sugar, fat, and salt.
Additionally, imported bottled water, which previously featured labeling in both Hebrew and English, will now only bear English labels. The public is assured that the products, whether labeled in Hebrew and English or solely in English, are indeed identical.
