On Tuesday, November 28, at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church (161 West Broadway, Winona) the community can learn how Hal Leonard got its humble start as a dance band at WSU and eventually became the largest music publisher in the world! Your guides will be three of the founders’ 13 children, Nancy Edstrom Bachler, Nick Edstrom and Joni Busdicker Welda. They will take you back to the earliest days when their fathers first developed their love for music, from their high school bands to swing dance bands to college marching bands.
First given in June 2022 at the Sandbar Storytelling Festival’s local businesses colloquium, this hour-long Café Congo presentation will raise funds for that same festival through your freewill donations. So plan on joining in the fun as the kids of Harold, Ev and Roger share the remarkable story of “The Music Men” and how their mutual love of music and for each other created a legacy that still lives on today. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.. Please use the Johnson Street canopied entrance. The building is accessible to all. The First Congregational Church is an Open & Affirming community of faith. All are welcome
