Henderson Art Festival dazzles with diverse art and live performances on Water Street

The annual Art Festival of Henderson captivated art enthusiasts this weekend with a vibrant display of talent and creativity.

This free event, a beloved Mother’s Day tradition, took place on Water Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, and drew thousands of residents and visitors to experience a wide array of artistic expressions.

The festival featured 132 artists showcasing their work across various mediums.

Lori McCoy is the President of City Lights Art Gallery.

McCoy says, “This is Henderson Art Fest for Mother’s Day. We do it every year. We are in the Co-Op Art Gallery; we fund education, we bring art to seniors, we bring art to youth, and we do a scholarship every single year for our art students.”

Attendees looked forward to nine engaging activities and art demonstrations, including glassblowing and the ever-popular chalk art gallery.

New this year, festival-goers had the opportunity to watch muralists in action with two new installations, as well as explore an Artist Village offering ongoing demonstrations of art forms such as pottery, macrame, and paper flowers.

In addition to the visual arts, the festival provided free entertainment throughout each day, featuring performances by nationally recognized bands, including the Grammy-nominated American Patchwork Quartet.

This year’s featured artist is Loisse Ledres, a Las Vegas-based visual artist and community organizer.

With seven years of experience in the design and commercial industry, Ledres collaborates with nonprofits, cultural bearers, and artists in major cities like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
