Here’s How TWICE’s Jihyo Does the No-Makeup Makeup Trend

TWICE’s Jihyo just dropped her take on barely-there makeup for Vogue’s Beauty Secrets and it’s a masterclass in the “less is more” mentality. When she’s not in stage glam, Jihyo’s cool toned matte eye and radiant skin is subtle, demure and deceivingly easy to recreate.

The K-Pop star’s look is all about the base. She starts with a pink toned MAC cosmetics “Lightful” primer applied with a cushion to keep her refreshed look lasting all day. On mornings when she’s in a rush, Jihyo says that it’s all she wears, “On days where I need to get ready quick, I’ll wear only this base and leave the house.”

The key to achieving Jihyo’s skin-like foundation texture is working in thin layers. To mask dark circles, she blends Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage concealer on her under eye and eyelid. Using a cushion, she applies a light touch of Jung Saem Mool’s Essential Skin Nuder foundation. Be sure to dab away any extra product so that the natural glow of your skin shines through, just like Jihyo. Minimal product also helps to achieve “a long-lasting base,” she says.

The same technique applies to Jihyo’s eyes which she proudly calls her favorite feature. To prevent any makeup transfer, the singer applies NARS Pro-Prime Smudge-Proof eyeshadow base as a primer. She went for a soft and neutral wash of color from Milk Touch’s Be My Sweet Dessert House palette. Using the highlight and shadow tones already present in your face is the best way to build natural dimension with minimal effort.

Black eyeliner is as bold as it gets in Jihyo’s routine. To elongate her rounded eyes, she uses a liquid eyeliner pen to lightly lift and extend her outer corner before using concealer to sharpen her flick. After a quick lash curl and a brush of mascara, she uses a pen to gently fill in her fluffy brows which Jihyo says she typically dyes lighter.

To finish off her look, she places a flush of Milk Touch’s Touch My Cheek blush to the top of her cheekbones for a “lively and bright” appearance followed by a light contour using Too Cool For School’s Art Class by Rodin palette. For a final pop of color, Jihyo pats on a berry toned lipstick and lip balm to achieve a hydrated K-beauty style gradient lip. No one could tell you she didn’t wake up looking this bright and fresh!
