The Chelsea Flower Show is here and alongside the beautiful gardens on display, the event offers the perfect opportunity for guests to wear their brightest and most elegant outfits, providing us with plenty of style inspiration for all our summer events.
While organisers have never implemented an official dress code, attendees usually opt for bold floral prints and pastel suits to match the splendour of the surrounding gardens as well the spring mood.
Many looks have caught our eye this year, from Bridgerton‘s Adjoa Andoh structured white dress to Mary Berry’s pink paisley frock, but Indira Varma’s outfit was by far our editor’s favourite.
For the occasion, the Doctor Who and Games of Thrones star, who was photographed in this year’s Water Aid garden, wore an elegant embroidered white maxi dress.
The delicate design featured frill detailing with bohemian fluted sleeves and subtle floral embroidery placed all over the dress. She finished the look with a pair of classic tan open toe leather mules and gold earrings.
Our Fashion Director Amanda Marcantonio says, “Without doubt, the Game of Thrones actress Indira Varma wore the best blooms in town. Despite personally not being a huge floral fan, I couldn’t help but fall in love with her wildflower embroidered white cotton maxi dress. It ticked all the boxes; romance, charm, beauty, elegance… (I could go on).
“The mix of intricate meadow-sweet needlecraft with pretty scalloped edging, blousy silhouette, mid-length hemline and demure long sleeves could have left Indira looking very twee, but she cleverly styled the dress with simple but chic tan leather sliders which instantly added a modern edge. And all at once, “vintage cottagecore” feels delightfully new.”
Inspired by Indira look? If so, there are similar dresses available on the high-street and online to imitate her style.
The Chelsea Flower Show is a yearly floral extravaganza that will run during its traditional Springtime slot from 2o May this year.
Many celebrities were in attendance for the event’s opening day including Dame Joanna Lumley, Alex Jones and Gaby Logan.
