Mickey Rourke’s disastrous run on Celebrity Big Brother has come to an end.
The trouble started earlier this week when, on the popular and long-running UK reality show, Mickey used a homophobic slur toward fellow castmate JoJo Siwa and made offensive remarks about her sexual identity. “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore…I’ll tie you up,” he said at one point. The show gave him a formal warning for his remarks, and he later apologized to JoJo.
Off the heels of Mickey’s offensive remarks, Bella Thorne came forward publicly with allegations of on-set misconduct when she worked with Mickey on the 2020 film Girl. “He’s supposed to take a metal grinder to my knee cap and instead he used it on my genitals thru my jeans. Hitting them over and over again,” she alleged. “I had bruises on my pelvic bone — Working with Mickey was one of the all time worst experiences of my life working as an actress.”
In a statement to Variety, Mickey’s reps said they are “aware of the statements made by Bella Thorne regarding her experience on set with Mr. Rourke during the production of a past film. These allegations are extremely serious. Mr. Rourke adamantly denies any intentional misconduct. He was not made aware of any such concerns during filming and had no prior knowledge of Ms. Thorne’s discomfort until now.”
Last night, a spokesperson for the show announced that Mickey had agreed to leave Celebrity Big Brother for good. “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behavior,” the statement read.
The statement also elaborated that Mickey was “threatening and aggressive” toward former Love Island contestant Chris Hughes. Apparently, the specifics of the incident — as well as Mickey’s departure — will be revealed in the next episode.
After that? Who knows!
