Heritage House Guild Meeting


The Heritage House Guild met Tuesday, Nov. 21, with Shirley Jensen and Pat Lorenz as hostesses. There were 28 members and three guests present. Carolyn Blunk, Dave Minor, Barb Wohlenhaupt and Betty Thompson celebrated birthdays this month. Mary Jensen became a new member of the Guild.

Sales Director, Kennedy Freund, gave us two more options for the purchase of names tags. Activities Coordinator, Gabby Johnson, advised us of the upcoming bake sale to be held on the morning of Dec. 15, starting at 8:30 a.m. The proceeds will be going to the Good Samaritan Fund at Heritage House. She is requesting several people to help in setting up for the bake sale. Gabby also advised us that due to a conflict of dates that the December meeting of the Guild would need to be held on the second Tuesday of the month, which would be Dec. 12.

Shirley Jensen introduced Dr. Beth Johnson, the new superintendent of the Atlantic Community School District. Dr. Johnson told us about herself and gave a very informative talk on the goals and strategic priorities of the school district.

President, Judy Phippen, called the meeting to order and Secretary, Bev Martens, took roll call and read the minutes and the treasurer’s report. The minutes were approved as read.

Lorene Aldag reported there were 304 volunteer hours worked in the month of October. Rich Perry led the discussion on the name tags. It was decided and voted on to purchase the staff name tags.

Bev Schelling reported on the nominating committee and the election of officers was held. Officers elected were Judy Phippen as president; Lavon Eblen as vice president and Beverly Martens as secretary/treasurer.

President Judy reported that dues for 2024 will be collected at the Dec. 12 meeting.

Wine and Cheese hostesses for Nov. 24 are Sue Hunt and Rich & Nedra Perry. Coffee hostesses for Nov. 24 are Fern Lindvall and Keith Leonard; Dec. 1 are Judy Phippen and Lavon Eblen; Dec. 8 are Lorene Aldag and Carol Waters. The next meeting will be December 12th with Lavon Eblen and Marcia Lowers as hostesses.
