VIROQUA — The seventh-seeded Blackhawks (19-13) won 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 and were led by junior Bryne Swenson’s 13 kills. Freshman Megan Brendel added 12 in an outcome that set up a semifinal at Aquinas on Thursday..
Elyse Neprud and Emma Moilien had 16 assists apiece, and Kami DeLap had 23 digs.
Trixie Koppa strengthened Viroqua’s play at the net with six blocks.
Westby 3, Onalaska Luther 1
WESTBY — The third-seeded Norsemen (24-11) took care of the visiting Knights 30-28, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24 to earn a home semifinal against sixth-seeded Abbotsford on Thursday.

Ali Fortun had 10 kills for Westby, which has won four straight matches and five of its past six. Tricia Klum added 21 assists, Gina Klum 20 digs and Kaylee Kirner three aces.
Isalynn Hagedorn had a match-high 22 kills and added five aces for Luther, while Allie Zittel had 35 assists and Kamryn Anderson eight digs.

CASHTON — The sixth-seeded Eagles won 25-9, 27-25, 25-17 and play at third-seeded Hillsboro on Thursday.

WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal
Aquinas 3, Viroqua 0
The second-seeded Blugolds turned a 6-1 deficit into a 25-12 win in the first set and cruised to a victory over the Blackhawks at the Reinhart Athletic Complex.
Junior Addy Foor had a team-high 19 kills as Aquinas improved to 19-10 with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-15 victory that puts it in a home regional final against sixth-seeded Abbotsford on Saturday.
Abbotsford upset third-seeded Westby 29-27, 21-25, 25-11, 25-21.
Food also led the team with 12 digs, while Mary Niegelsen tallied a team-best 19 assists to go with Josephine Lawton’s 11. Sophomore Sammy Davis added eight kills and six digs and Tessa Miskowski nine digs for the Blugolds.

WESTBY — Aquinas rolled in both races. The boys scored 36 points with three of the top four runners, and the girls scored 63 with three of the top nine.
This the boys team’s sixth straight season as a state qualifier, and the girls team’s first since 2020. The boys won championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Senior Jonathan Skemp and junior Declan Gregg won and finished second for the Blugolds in the boys race. Skemp was timed at 16:23.6 and Gregg at 16:40.5.
Senior Joey Hirschboeck (fourth, 16:49.5), sophomore Kaleb Azene (sixth, 17:35.7) also finished among the top 10, and junior Trevor Paulson (23rd,18:50.5) gave Aquinas its final team score.
The boys held off second-place Bangor (92), which will make its second straight state appearance. The Cardinals received scoring runs from senior Nolan Langrehr (eighth, 17:43.5), juniors Traevon Delaney (16th, 18:33.6), Cian Buchholz (18th, 18:36.3) and Evan Buchholz (28th, 18:59.1) and freshman Alex Felch (22nd, 18:46.5).
Brookwood freshman Cooper Powell (ninth, 17:46.8) is an individual state qualifier.
The Aquinas girls were led by sophomore Alexa Myre (third, 19:56.2) but also had freshmen Emily Bagniefski (fifth, 20:23.5) and Hope Hawker (ninth, 21:15.9) in the top 10.
Sophomore Bethany Hale (22nd, 22:10.9) and freshman Helen Onyeabor (24th, 22:13.7) helped finish the Blugolds’ scorecard with all freshmen and sophomores.
The Blugolds beat second-place Brookwood (95). The Falcons were led by senior Amelia Muellenberg (12th, 21;30.2) and sophomore Ruby Muehlenkamp (16th, 21:53.2).
Freshman Miranda Arndt (20th, 22:04.8) was also in the top 20, while sophomore Brynn Thurston (21st, 22:08.2) and freshman Maggie Stenerson (26th, 22:21.8) added scoring runs for a team qualifying for state for the first time since 2019.
Bangor junior Anna Fronk (third, 19:51.4) and Westby sophomore Elizabeth Curtis (fifth, 20:02) grabbed two of the five spots saved for top individuals and will run with Aquinas and Brookwood qualifiers at state.
