HISD to name winning student artists at 2023 Holiday Greeting Card Competition

Long considered the kick-off to Houston’s season of holiday celebrations, HISD is holding its annual Holiday Greeting Card Competition on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The competition will name one elementary, middle, and high school winner, and their works will be featured on thousands of Christmas cards that Superintendent Mike Miles will send to HISD’s many community partners this year.

In addition, the reception will feature special performances by the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Jazz and Mariachi bands.

Though the event is closed to the public—aside from student finalists, their parents, and principals and teachers from their campuses—the awards ceremony and the student performances will be livestreamed here.

Finalists include students from Community Services School, Laurenzo ECC, Herod ES, St. George Place ES, Briscoe ES, Eliot ES, River Oaks ES, Black MS, Gregory-Lincoln K-8, Lanier MS, Meyerland PVAMS, Ortiz MS, Lamar HS, Chavez HS, Westbury HS, Northside HS and Waltrip HS.
