Hofstra Falls To Penn In Dual Match Opener


Philadelphia, PA – The University of Pennsylvania picked up a 6-1 victory over Hofstra Friday afternoon at Hecht Tennis Center on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The dual match was Hofstra’s opener to their spring 2024 season. 

Hofstra slipped to 0-1 on the season, while Penn moved to 4-0. 

Lea Forste-Dinell was the sole member of the Pride to win her match on Friday. Forste-Dinell took Iris Gallo to three sets before winning in the tiebreaker in a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 match.  In singles play, the Quakers won five of the six flights with Gavriella Smith clinching the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Soyer at the No. 1 flight. 

Hofstra will return to action tomorrow to face Quinnipiac in New Haven, CT. The Bobcats are currently 0-1 on their season.
