Holly Willoughby’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ Work Faces ‘An Uncertain Future’

Holly Willoughby’s presenting career could be in jeopardy barely a month after her TV return.

Dancing on Ice, presented Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, may see judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean hang up their skates.

With the show’s ratings declining from prior years, the show’s future is uncertain at this time.

“Dancing on Ice faces an uncertain future,” a source told The Mirror. “The ratings are low for a big weekend show and without Torvill and Dean putting in their performances this could be the end of the road.”

The insider noted that the show is “an incredibly expensive show to make. It only works if it gets a big audience.”

Torvill and Dean had stated that they will return as judges in 2025, but it is speculated that this may be their final time as judges. On the 40th anniversary of their astounding victory at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, the couple announced their retirement from performing together.

If the judges go, the ratings could fall much further from 2.9 million, the lowest ever for a show that used to average 12 million viewers every episode.

In addition to paying Willoughby, Mulhern, and the four judges, the show must also pay six-figure sums to the 12 celebrity contestants. As a result, in order to continue, the show’s ratings must remain strong.
