Autumn planting began on September 21 with Orcade winter barley, sown at 210kg/ha. Post-emergence herbicide Firebird was applied at 0.3L/ha at the two-leaf stage.

I chose Orcade as an IPM measure as I am trying to avoid using insecticides, and Orcade is BYDV-tolerant. I did not apply an aphicide to this on the home farm but did on the shared farm, so it will be interesting to see how both blocks perform over the cropping year.
