HPD: Car totaled, semi disabled in Tuesday night accident

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Huntingburg Police Department (HPD) says on February 20, at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of South Main Street and 4th Avenue in a reported two vehicle accident with injury.

Police say officers with HPD and deputies with the Dubois County Sheriffs Department arrived on scene and found a blue car off to the side of the northbound lane with substantial damage to the front of the vehicle and a white semi-truck in the southbound lane with damage to the front. Due to damages to the car the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle.

A media release says the Huntingburg Fire Department arrived and began the process of extricating the driver from the vehicle. The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital where he was then flown to another hospital. The driver of the semi, identified as David France of Jasper, refused medical services and was later released. South Main Street was cleared of debris and reopened. The accident is still under investigation.

Officers say the blue car was a total loss and was towed from the scene, while the semi suffered disabling damages and was also towed from the scene.
