This star likes to be in the sun, so he has some skin care tips for other people like him.
Hugh Jackman used social media to remind his fans to use sunscreen after he had two biopsies for basal cell carcinoma and was told he needed them.
“I wanted you to hear it from me just in case someone sees me on the street or whatever,” Jackman, 54, said in the video posted Monday, wearing a bandage on his nose.
He went on to say, “I just had two biopsies. Just now, I went to the doctor… She only saw small things that could be basal cells or might not be. She has no idea.”
The star of “The Greatest Showman” promised his fans that he would find out the results in two to three days and let them know.
He made sure to say that basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is “the least dangerous” type of skin cancer.
The Skin Cancer Foundation says that basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer and the most common type of all cancers. Every year, about 3.6 million people in the US are told they have BCC.
Most of the time, basal cells, which make new skin cells when old ones die, change after being exposed to UV radiation from the sun or tanning beds. But if it is caught early and treated, it won’t hurt as much.
Jackman used this as a chance to tell everyone how important it is to wear sunscreen and care for your skin.
“If I can just take this opportunity to remind you, summer is coming for those of us in the northern hemisphere, please wear sunscreen. It is just not worth it. No matter how much you want a tan, trust me, trust me, trust me,” he said.
He came to the conclusion, “This is all stuff that happened 25 years ago, and it’s coming out now. Put some sunscreen on. You’ll still have an incredible time out there. Alright. Please be safe.”
The Australian actor has already had six removals done to get rid of basal cell carcinoma.
