In 2020, a British court decided that a tabloid’s depiction of Depp as a “wife beater” was largely factual, leading to the breakup of his relationship with Hollywood. As a direct result, he is no longer associated with either the Fantastic Beasts or Pirates of the Caribbean series.

In the end, Depp won a defamation action against Heard in a Virginia court. The jury found that Heard had lied about him on three counts and gave Depp $15 million in damages. However, people still have different opinions about the case.
