Huron County crash kills 2 after car catches fire, troopers say

HURON, Ohio (WOIO) – Two people died after a car caught fire following a crash in Huron County, according to state troopers.

OSHP says the single-car crash happened at 2:30 a.m. on SR-514 in Ripley Township.

Troopers say the Dodge Ram 1500, traveling northbound on SR-514, drove off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and a culvert.

Flames engulfed the truck as it stopped within the intersection of SR-514 and SR-754, troopers say.

OSHP confirmed troopers pronounced the driver, 18-year-old Aaron Casey, of Shreve; and the passenger, 18-year-old Kody Adams, of Wooster, dead at the scene.

Troopers say while the crash remains under investigation, they believe alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor in the crash.
