Husky Pup Rescued 23 Days After Turkey Quake

A Siberian Husky was pulled from the wreckage, tired but alive, Turkish media reported Wednesday, more than three weeks after the earthquake ravaged significant portions of Turkey. Alex, the dog, was heard by coincidence while assistance teams searched for temporary shelters near Antakya. Alex was rescued after an “intensive” rescue effort, according to a local resident quoted by the Demiroren News Agency. In footage of the operation, Alex appears frail and shocked. A volunteer with the Animal Rights Association of Turkey informed the state-run Anadolu News Agency that Alex had dropped much weight but was otherwise in remarkably excellent health. Volunteers lavished him with scratches and pats at a field veterinary center, where he was filmed in a much happier state.
