Construction is underway at Hyundai’s new R&D facility at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center (HMETC) in Germany. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2025. According to Hyundai, the focus of the new labs will be ADAS, infotainment functions and electrification.

State-of-the-art resources available to Hyundai’s engineers will include the company’s largest 4WD NVH dyno, said to be capable of measuring a full vehicle line-up in one platform, along with two chassis dynos and a powertrain dyno.

With a total floor area of 25,000m2, the new building will more than double HMETC’s office and research space, with a layout designed to provide employees with a dynamic working environment. Energy efficiency has reportedly been considered in the facility’s design, and advanced renewable energy systems will be installed throughout.

The tech hub is in Germany’s Rhine-Main metropolitan region and will contribute to the local economy by offering employment opportunities. Hyundai is already in the process of recruiting.
