I Decorated For Halloween in Just 30 Minutes With These $26 Wrap Ghosts

There’s a secret I’ve been keeping from my Halloween-crazed coworkers here at Country Living: I’ve never decorated for October 31st. It’s not that I don’t like the holiday. I just never felt the need—or always seemed to declare myself a touch too busy—to stop and smell the spooky forest pudding cups. Which means I’ve never carved a pumpkin (seriously!), artfully arranged decorative gourds on my front stoop, or even attempted some spooky front door decor.

But then my husband and I moved out of our condo building in DC and into a charming ranch on a suburban street full of kids in Birmingham. And then we had a kid of our own! This year will be my son’s first Halloween, and I knew it was time to change my ways. Still, I had no idea where to start. I’m nowhere near crafty enough to DIY my own Halloween decorations, and, if I’m being totally honest, still a little too overwhelmed by life with a tiny infant to put a lot of time and effort into a big display. So I started looking around for Halloween decor ideas that offered maximum impact for minimum effort. My thoughts immediately turned to the viral 12-foot-tall Home Depot skeleton. He looks cool, you can semi-customize the pose, and his eyes even light up! But once I saw the price tag—and the fact that he’s on the lawn of several other houses in our neighborhood—it was time to move on to new pastures.

My son smiles every time he sees these ghosts, so I know they’re a win.

Enter: these totally ingenious Amazon wrap ghosts. Thanks to an inner wire frame, they wrap easily around trees, drain pipes, or, in my case, porch pillars. The wire extends to their ghoulish hands, so you can add movement to their pose, and they come in multiple face styles. (I went with “cute” because I like the circle mouths.)

They took 30 minutes to style exactly as I liked—though it would have taken less time if I’d been wrapping them around a skinnier pipe or tree—and didn’t require any fishing wire to be held up. (That said, I did use a few strategically-placed push pins for reinforcement.) Add in a few black bats flapping in the wind, and voila! You’re all set.

These sure-to-go-viral Amazon wrap ghosts come in two sizes: 47-inch and 53-inch. I scooped up my 47-inch pair for $26, and they’re still available for delivery before Halloween. Need ’em even faster? These 53-inch “happy” ghosts are still available with two-day delivery for $33. Get ’em now, before they sell out, and you, too, can start and finish decorating for Halloween during your kiddo’s afternoon nap.
