A leafy interior and smiling staff are exactly what you can expect when you step foot inside Benugo Bar and Kitchen. It has been hailed as a ‘hidden gem in a beautiful setting’ and has become a firm favourite since opening at Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry.
Benugo opened to the public last year and has since racked up dozens of five-star reviews on Tripadvisor. Customers have described the food as ‘delicious’ and said the staff are ‘absolutely wonderful.’
Benugo serves a variety of food and drinks and has been hailed as one of the best restaurants in the city, therefore I decided to try it out for myself! Although I had never visited before my expectations were understandably high given the string of positive reviews on Tripadvisor and Google Reviews.

We were greeted by a friendly member of staff called Tomas. He led us to our table and we were left to look over the food and drink offering and I must say we were pleasantly surprised!
Benugo had revamped their menu earlier this year and there was a good selection of food on offer, including the Short-Rib Marrowbone Burger, the Mango and Avocado Salad and Stonebaked Pizzas. I loved the décor which was both bright and elegant and the atmosphere was surprisingly peaceful for a Sunday.
Drinks landed on our table promptly and the presentation as well as the attention to detail was simply stunning. I decided to order a Piña Colada and thought the sweet burst of coconut was lovely and the rum and pineapple complimented each other perfectly.
As we ordered our food, the restaurant slowly started to fill up and the space felt social but relaxed. We decided to go for a Margherita Pizza (£11), a Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza, Jalapeno Poppers (£7), Chips (£4.50) and Cheesy Garlic Bread (£9).
Staff delivered our food promptly and the pizzas had the most satisfying cheese pull which was simply mouthwatering. I thought the first mouthful was delicious, with a rich and tangy tomato sauce on a delightfully soft dough, as well as flavoursome toppings which were cooked to perfection!
I thought the Cheesy Garlic Bread was perfectly soft, the Jalapeno Poppers were bursting with flavour and the Chips were both crispy and well-seasoned. I would say the food definitely lived up to my expectations tasting as good as it looked!
Although we were positively stuffed, who can resist a sweet treat? We were tempted into ordering a New York Cheesecake (£7) and a Benugo Sundae. (£7.95)
I was pleasantly surprised by the New York Cheesecake which was the perfect blend of soft and crunchy, while the Benugo Sundae was filled with surprises as well as a harmony of textures, from KitKat to Popping Candy.
Staff were both friendly and attentive and the food was simply delightful at Benugo Bar and Kitchen. It is no wonder why they are one of the top-rated restaurants in Coventry.
